The Beginning
Music has been a big part of my life ever since I can remember. In fact both of my parents are musicians, my mother is a trumpet player and my father a multi-instrumentalist, composer and record producer. I was familiar with the sounds of music from as early as the womb. My parents would often situate a guitar cabinet near my mothers belly and strum slow soothing chords or blow trumpet sounds until I responded with kicks or what seemed like somersaults – as I’ve been told.
I frequented recording studios and band rehersals before I was able to attend school so all of these areas of the music-world have been with me as long as I can remember. This is why my passion for music, recording and the recording process carries on in me and my own family.
This blog is an attempt to record the day-to-day events of me, Hakim Callier, as I continue my family tradition by raising a family of faithful and talented musicians. Our life is not ordinary and our story is uncommon, but its part of our lot in life. And my hope is that you will find this blog interesting and inspiring in a number of ways.
